About Me

picture

Hello, my name is Kayode Muyibi, this is my personal Blog. I am an Internet Hobbyist, a MacBook Lover, and I am not a geek as some people would claim.

I loved the Internet, way before I met her. I first heard about the Internet from my father when I was 8 years old. His University in the UK, where he obtained his PHD had a Library network that had a connection to the Internet.

I am an avid lover of technology since I was a child; just hearing my Dad talking about the Internet for the first time,  lighted up my eyes. I was in Love at first hear. I remember writing an essay in primary 6 about the Internet,  based on what I have heard from my dad, and read from a magazine, I think belonged to him.

I had my first hand on experience on computers with a 486 using windows 3.1. It had, I think a 32MB ram.
We moved to Malaysia in 1997, and I was formally introduced to the Internet. Her doorbell back then had this funky cranky noise that goes on and on till she eventually agrees to  open up her door that leads to the world she created. She was very slow in communicating with her visitor, about 56Kbps, but we could create emails and could chit chat on ICQ and IRC with friends and strangers.

I remember my first email being on the @netscape domain, and regularly sending emails to my friends; email exchanges between young teenagers was much more regular and popular, as compare to now.

My friends introduced me to Telnet, ICQ, IRC and even the BBS and the MUD network. I learnt a lot by hanging out with geeks and I was so addicted to the Internet and computers that I ended up getting into lots of trouble that my parents had to deport me back to Nigeria to finish my high school. I spent a year or so back in Nigeria, and returned back to Malaysia thereafter, after becoming a “supposed” changed boy, according to my mum.

I started building html sites in 1999 by ripping off  sites, I didn’t understand much of the syntax, till I came across a book that my mother was reading because she was obtaining her degree in Computer Science at a University in Malaysia, then.

I started my Internet business life with Graphixc.com in 2002, when I convinced myself that I was a web designer, because I knew how to use Photoshop to draw boxes, considering I sucked badly, and my html was still in the novice stage.

My life has revolved around learning and jumping at one thing after another and trying to build a cool website or an  application that the entire world would use. I was crazy, and I think I still am, I haven’t changed much. I mean I still have crazy ambitions.

I had my first Blog in 2002, and it was named Kazey Journal, as that was what most Blogs were called back then, if I am not mistaken.
I started coding little accounting desktop apps using visual basic and excel for SME’s in 2003, and I made quiet a little fortune doing that. I spent all the money on lavish lifestyle, as I was very naïve.

Today, I own Nairahost together with partners, Nairajobs  (yet to be launched, still has buggy codes as I have been busy) and Advertfarm that is coming up by this month ending. I invest in other things for the future, and  consult for some companies and government organisations on technology deployment etc.

I just turned 25, and I have a crazy dream of becoming the richest man in the world, yes you heared me. I dont care about fame, I only want the money by the way. Oh and I do have a little problem of speaking my mind instead of shutting it up when I am supposed to. This always gets me into trouble with my country people, who tend to be naturally very conservative in opinion sharing.
