Mobile VOIP is finally here.
Spending too much money making calls via your mobile phone? MobileVOIp is just what you need.
NasionCom Holdings Berhad a Malaysian telecommunication service provider delivering innovative voice and data services, broadband internet access, interactive entertainment systems and information technology solutions to corporations and home users recently unveiled two VOIP-enabled mobile phones the B600 and B609. This is under their Nason1 product line.

The company will soon be launching its VoIP capable phones, the B600 and the B609, retailing at RM868(approx 228USD) and RM838(approx 220USD ) respectively.
Feature-wise, the handsets are essentially the same. Both phones have GPRS,WAP,SMS, and USB connectivity for transferring data to PC.
Both phones also come with a 1.3-megapixel camera, stereo speakers, Mp3 and MPEG4 video playback and a 128MB T-Flasg (or microSD) memory card.
The Executive Director Peter Tham says, “The Nasion1 mobile VoIP service works anytime, anywhere that has GSM coverage and mobile phone users can maintain existing phone numbers, simply by switching back and forth their existing GSM service to Nasion1.”
Where WiFi phones can only work when there is Internet connection, NasionCom’s phones leverage GSM technology to go onto the IP layer.
Opinion: I think some companies are entering the future at a very fast rate. With such a mobile phone, is there a possibility that the normal GSM networkwould be boycotted especially in a possible case of the introduction of WIFI enabled mobile phones in the market with VOIP capabilities?
Well the future of mobile telecommunications is quiet bright and I see myself calling friends all over without worrying about my bills rather I would worry about the time I can sacrifice.
