Top Internet Brands

In the recent Nielsen//NetRatings of top internet brand for the year 2005, I was really shocked to find out that the great Google brand, was in the 4th position.

Well i guess, our angle of seeing things are not actually the way the are in reality. I was thinking Google was the top brand on the net. But i guess i was wrong. Keep it up Yahoo !

  • Makes sense to me. Think of all the stuff people do on and with Yahoo! I would have been surprised if the results were significantly different.
  • Well from what i read it was said that and i quote

    A brand is defined as a consolidation of multiple domains and URLs that has a consistent collection of
    branded content. The data is expressed as the percentage of the total universe of Internet users who logged onto the Internet at least once during the reporting period.


    So i guess that answers your question.

    Is it top traffic website or top brand? Since Yahoo!, Microsoft and MSN are content rich site(Yahoo! and MSN is web portal), they generate more visitors traffic and longer visit period than search engine -- Google.

    It is unfair to judget the top brand by visitor numbers.
